Read-only by design

Your data stays yours

Giving software access to business data is a serious decision. Here is exactly what AskMe can and cannot do, and how we keep your data safe.

Six security guarantees

It only reads

It can never change, add or delete data, and it warns you if a database login could.

Private columns stay private

Phone numbers, emails and IDs are flagged. Hide them, or allow them in totals only.

Roles for every person

Viewers, members, editors and owners. Everyone sees only what they should.

Your servers if you want

Choose the AI model per workspace, or run it on your own infrastructure.

Guarded against tricks

Text in documents that tries to instruct the AI is flagged and left out until checked.

Links stay inside

Shared answers open only for your workspace, and you can switch a link off any time.

AskMe is built by iDefender IT Services, a cyber-security and cloud company. Security is where we started, not a feature we added.

Ask us the hard questions

Read-only by design

AskMe generates only SELECT queries. It never uses INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE or any data-modifying statement. When you connect a database, AskMe checks the login credentials and warns you if they have write access. We recommend creating a dedicated read-only database user for AskMe.

On-premise and self-hosted deployment

If your data cannot leave your network, AskMe can run entirely on your own servers. You choose the AI model (including open-source models that run locally), and no data ever leaves your infrastructure. iDefender handles setup and ongoing maintenance.

This makes AskMe suitable for industries with strict data residency requirements: finance, healthcare, government and manufacturing.

Private column masking

When AskMe reads your database schema, it automatically flags columns that look like they contain personal data: phone numbers, email addresses, national IDs, and similar. You can:

  • Hide them completely — the column is invisible to AskMe and all users
  • Allow in aggregates only — "how many customers have a phone number" works, but listing individual numbers does not
  • Allow for specific roles — editors and owners can see them, viewers cannot

Role-based access control

Every workspace has four roles:

  • Viewer — can ask questions and see shared reports
  • Member — can save reports and create scheduled deliveries
  • Editor — can add data sources, define custom terms, and see the SQL behind answers
  • Owner — can manage members, billing and workspace settings

Prompt injection protection

When AskMe reads documents (Word, PDF, web pages), it scans for text that attempts to instruct the AI model. Any suspicious content is flagged and excluded from the context until a human editor reviews and approves it. This prevents prompt injection attacks from manipulating AskMe's answers.

Shared answers

When you share an answer with a link, that link only works for members of your workspace. You can revoke any shared link at any time. Answers are never publicly accessible unless you explicitly make them so.

Built by a security company

iDefender IT Services is a cyber-security and cloud company based in India. We build and manage security infrastructure for businesses. AskMe was built with the same security-first approach we apply to everything we do.
